We idealize people we deem as successful without first understanding what success really looks like for us. We immediately imagine ourselves in their shoes and create the entire lifestyle in our heads as if it were reality.
The part we fail to think through are the not so fun parts; the pain, the character changes…the sacrifices. Before we idealize another situation we first need to understand what success means to us. What would truly make one successful? Is it….
We have to first understand the concept of success in our own lives before we start creating visions and dreams on things that are not true to our core. So what’s next? We know what success means for us , now we need to identify if we are willing to do what is necessary to get it. Now we all (well certainly me) think some of these skydiving videos are amazing, not to mention some of these amazing journeys into the wilderness seeing rare animals and history. Those things to me represent a certain level of success, it meant those people were able to put their fears and doubt behind them and persevered towards their objectives. Now the question is, would I be able to fall from thousands of feet in the air relying only on a parachute to catch my fall…. As it stands now I am not there at all. If success for me meant being able to skydive I would need to prepare myself mentally physically even financially to meet this objective. What are the repercussions for doing this, how will my body react, suppose the worst case situation occurred are my family members covered? You may say it is a simple task but the preparation behind that task my not be as simple. So what am I saying?? Identify what success means to you, stop idolizing others idea of success, GET YOUR OWN Identify what is required to get to that level of success , WHAT PREPARATION IS NEEDED? Determine… ARE YOU WILLING TO MAKE THOSE SACRIFICES? It is pointless to salivate over a success that is either not yours or one you have no desire to prepare for. Doing this is like beating yourself up for something you never had a chance of getting. For us to achieve our version of success we must be willing to prepare for it.

At the end of the day, most ppl will uses another man’s success to mimic what their own idea of success. Which is sad but how do we stop this? At what stage do we recognize the need to paused, developed an introspection of ourselves then caste our own eyes on our own wants and needs and not someone else’s to feel good about where we are in our own life’s journey?
